Thanks Folks for the Prayers and advise , I just recieved his first letter and aside from a tough first week he seems to have adapted well and doing fine. Whew... Made many friends and they seem to be coming together as one. Our prayers go out to all our servicemen and women. God Bless.

Hi Edward, you can write your seaman recruit every day, but they get mail only once a week, so you won't get much back in the way of letters. Bible verses and other inspirational messages are great, but I would advise against any newspaper clippings. My wife sent my son a comic strip once, and he caught heck for it. The RTC is about reorienting youth to a military mentality, and they're cutting the umbilicus. I will keep your recruit in my prayers and thoughts regularly, God bless them on this amazing journey.

Edward, glad you like it.  If you sign up for it they will send you a Bible Verse each day, also make sure to go to their home page and check out the Awesome pictures, they also have a ask for prayer section......

hope all is well with everyone and that we all hear from our sailors soon.

Amen.

Keeping them and you all in my prayers.  Our daughter would say, Daddy you're such a dork!  but with soo much love. lol  sometimes it's the small things they miss, so try to remember a special joke, saying .......something that was just yours.  for me I always tell my daughter "You're in my thoughts and prayers but Always in my HEART."  I actually found a card that said that!  yep, I bought the whole store's supply. lol  my hubby's little thing was he'd drive the kids to school each day and as they got out of his truck he'd say, "remember Jesus Loves you and so do I" since BC he's signed all the cards, letter and packages "r.J.L.y.a.s.d.I" the dork  LOL on her b-day we bake her favorite cake (and also send her a cake mix and icing) and then take a picture of us celebrating her birthday and send the picture to her, She's had 4 birthdays with out us but she knows she's not forgotten back home and she gets out all her pictures and sets them around.  For her 21st we all soluted her with a drink. (she was in the Middle East at the time)

Edward, if you're on FB look up GodVine, it's WONDERFUL!

Prayers going out for all you folks. Our "Baby" made it through wonderfully. Many of letters home said "you have no idea how much your prayers meant to me". Plan to be at graduation. You will NEVER be more proud.

My son left for boot camp June 21st and all we got thus far was his dirty laundry and a three sentence paragraph. As parents we go through alot with them growing up but realizing their adults and letting go is harder then I thought. We pray he's doing fine B/C putting on a happy face if he's sounding down isn't going to be easy. I think the idea of bible verses, newspaper articles is a great idea one we will try. Thanks for the advise.

keeping all our recruits, schooling, and deployed sailors in my prayers daily.

If you get a phone call or letter complaining or sounding down, home sick....take heart and pray but do not worry,  We are their support and sounding board, they are most likely over it and on with theri lives and here we were baack home worring about them. I sent Lots of letters, Bible verses, pictures newspaper clippngs etc.....just getting something from home even if it's just a card signed by their pet. lol
