I'm traveling today Blonde but will pray for this sailor and his family. Let's claim healing!!!!
Blondie,
We will be praying. Please keep us updated.
Robin
we have a mom who's sailor is very il (on prayer wall) we are having a prayer mtg. tonight! here are the times if you're able or willing to pray for another.....heres what's up:
Oh Blondie - what an inspired idea indeed! In fact, our sons RPO has been coming to see him daily. He just called and said he would be in around 7pm PT tonight. I know that's awfully late for some of you, but we are going to be praying together at that time as a family with the RPO, we would love all of you to join us. We will be wearing our surgical gloves and masks (he is in 'containment'), but our hands will be on that boys head at 7pm PT tonight. Thank you to all who might join with us. God is great, and I'm so grateful for my Navy family. We are praying very simply - heal the infection, remove the fever, bring strength back into his body so that he can take the next steps. We know more struggles may await, but we need to get past this hurdle so we can meet them head on.
7pm (PT) would make it
8pm (MT) 9pm (CT) 10pm(ET) and 11pm (AT)
.
Still Praying every morning at 9am (est) for for all our military on foreign land(sea) and at 6pm (est) for all our ill, wounded and those(and families) who gave their all.
No worry blondie, you did not step in a pile. I understand exactly what your daughter means. Our Sailor had the opportunity to be considered for officer school. Wanted to go in enlisted. However, our retired friends are encouraging him to still go for officer training. We'll see.
wow, once i re-read that...i felt bad, I did NOT mean to sound like we don't respect Officers, we do. just my daughter wanted to do it all, be everything.....she feels better prepared....it's just Her way, not everyones. hope I didn't step in a pile.
my daguhter enlisted right out of H.S. she's an IS and has advanced quickly, always taking the test early and passing everytime. she now works for the JCS and still moving up. she has not had time to take college courses because she's been fighting a war!
Jean, your experience sounds like the minority. it might depend on the command....I know my daughter has said some staff looks down on the crew, sometimes the crew gives the staff a hassel about not pulling their weight....most is because they don't understand each others jobs. my daughter was admiral staff and crew were not allowed on staff side of ship....so staff had to clean the heads, pull watch etc.....people need to be more tolerant of others. But our experience is college is Not mandatory or necessary, my daughter has been asked to go for officer many times, now that she's in the states, she's put her package in......She tells them, "I wanted to do it the right way, from the bottom up. I deserve the respect I get."
prayers for all of you and your families.
I don't think its fair to say the Navy looks down on those without a college degree. Every rate is needed and appreciated I believe. My son enlisted with 90 hours of college and went to BUDs. He is not looked down upon, but I will say that he has been encouraged to complete his degree for future advancement. I love that the Navy is pushing him to do that.
have to agree April.....both my kids enlisted and I could not be prouder....anyone that looks down on them has to answer to one pi$$ed off papa !!!!
Paul you are right. My son went to Jr College and it helped some when he enlisted. He plan to finish college with the GI bill. My niece is Air Force and is currently going to college to become a radiologist. I put myself through college but had the horrendous student loan. Told my son not to get into that trap.
If someone looks down on enlisted as not being smart enough or whatever to go to college then they are just showing their ignorance.
