having another fund raiser in Nick's home town, May 5th.....yellow ribbons are looking kinda sad (weather) so now we are passing out window clings - that read "THANKS Nick!" I'll try to figure out how to get my camera to down-load onto computer. Please keep us and our efforts in your prayers.
news on Nick
• Had to take the wheelchair accessible van back today. It was a rental. We did venture out several times in it. Nick is gaining in strength, confidence and independance. Nick is starting to look like his old self - getting some meat on his bones, smiling, laughing and being ornery and, oh yeah, shaved the stache off. I knew this day would eventually come - he now wheels himself faster than I can walk. God is good! (Steve)
Always There
This is a great poem/prayer to remember. God is always there. :)
Hello God, I called tonight
To talk a little while
I need a friend who'll listen
To my anxiety and trial.
You see, I can't quite make it
Through a day just on my own...
I need your love to guide me,
So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep,
My family safe and sound.
Come and fill their lives with confidence
For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face
Each hour throughout the day,
And not to worry over things
I can't change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home
And listening to my call,
For giving me such good advice
When I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one
That answers every time.
I never get a busy signal,
Never had to pay a dime.
So thank you, God, for listening
To my troubles and my sorrow.
Good night, God, I love You, too,
And I'll call again tomorrow!
GREAT news on Nick:
• Nick has left the hospital! Only for a few hours ... But he was out. The hospital fixed us up with a wheelchair accessable van. We did a lunch trip on Friday with a couple of the therapists. (It was considered a PT session ... Not much sweat involved in that session.) They let us have the van for the weekend after some training. So today, with some family visitors helping out, we ventured out and enjoyed hanging out in Richmond. He thought it was great. Even though it was at times uncomfortable, he said it was a good time that compared to his "first glass of water" good time. Another step along this recovery road. (Steve)
Please continue to pray that my sailor makes good choices right now...also for me, read the ships note this morning,,,"good morning vietnam" she was excited to visit here, but wonder how she's doing???? her uncle never came back
Only befitting to echo the words engraved on the granite base of the Iwo Jima Memorial Statue -- "In honor and in memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since November 10, 1775."
Please keep their families in your prayers. May GOD bless ...
