God will give you the strength and wisdom to overcome every obstacle the enemy throws in your path. Praise Him in advance. "Give thanks in all circumstances." 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Enveloped in Your Light, may I be a beacon to those in search of Light. Sheltered in Your Peace, may I offer shelter to those in need of peace. Embraced by Your Presence, so may I be present to others.

warning....made me cry, then I sat up a little taller and thought,  we in Ohio farm country sure know how to grow them!  So Proud of Nick!

By Nick Vogt Family
I have to share this with everyone who has been following Nick's story. We were outside yesterday enjoying the beautiful weather here in Richmond. Nick had been in his wheelchair for 3 hours and was having a lot of discomfort, but I still thought some fresh air would do him some good. We were talking about different things (mostly about his future), and another individual came up in our conversation who has more severe injuries than Nick. Nick looked me and said, "Mom, I am so thankful for what I have. All I'm missing are my legs . . . it could have been so much worse." Well, folks, I had to look away because I knew I would start to cry. For those of you who don't know, Nick's amputations are very high. He is missing the entire leg and his right leg is only 4 - 5". His rehab will be very difficult and he has a lot of pain, but it amazes me that he can look past all that and only focus on the good. He still has no idea why people tell him he's inspirational, and why people thank him for his sacrifice. He simply says, "I was just doing my job. No different than any other soldier." There is one thing that Nick's TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) did not change and that is his courage, perseverance, and love for life. For that we are soooooo thankful.

fishdad,

thanks for the update, I have at least one person everyday asking about Nick, sometimes 2-3 groups but never a day goes by that his Name doesn't pass our lips (or fingers) and he's always in our prayers.

Also Glad to hear you're feeling better and getting "out"   Talk about Patience!  LOL

Hi Blondie,

Glad to hear that there is at least some good news concerning your daughter. I remember what a difficult time she had last year with her teeth. I'll keep that situation in my prayer and I will be praying for her as she finishes up in Japan. One thing the Navy teaches a soul is patience. I'm praying that these next few months fly by quickly for her (and you as well). It will be good for you both to have her closer this summer. I'm excited for you both!

You had asked about Heath. He also has been SIQ for a week. First the H1N3 flu and then strep. His resistance is still down and he gets these kinds of things easily. He told us that he is planning on taking his girl out for dinner this weekend, said he needs some fresh air. So we're hoping it does him good and we're glad that he feels up to doing something. He saw his ortho doc last week and received more shots in his knee and hip (ouch). They are hoping that these combined with his PT will eliminate the need for another surgery. He is on LimDu until at least August at this point. We're really hoping and praying that he is cleared for duty BEFORE then. He is enjoying the job he has now, but he's so ready to get back with his engineers.

I hope that everyone out there enjoys this weekend that you all have the beautiful weather we are having here in Western Pa. This will be my first weekend 'out' since my accident and I've even been cleared to drive (with supervison...lol). But I am thankful for the healing that is occurring.

Have a great weekend all!

GREAT news...I heard from my sailor! Sadly she does not know when she'll be coming stateside, but that's not a total surprise. She's been sick since I talked to her last, (she had told me then she didn't feel good.) They decided to pull one of her wisdom teeth and put her on SIQ for a couple of days, they ship out again next week, so other teeth will have to wait (again). They always wait till she has a high fever and can't hardly stand up any more before sending her to medical. This is the second time she has not been able to open her mouth. (last time they were out to sea and they poured acid in her mouth) Not eating right and sleeping very little while sick is not a good idea. (LOL who would have known?) They sent her home for her SIQ with a "walker"
These next 2-3 months will be really hard on her. she will watch the days go by knowing she should be home but she's Not. Most everyone else will be leaving on their rotations and......alot of emotions. when she was packing to go home on SIQ, 3 seperate people were crying and saying good-bye (they thought she was leaving, she was not suppose to be going out next week but coming home) others left because they didn't want to see her packing...She said now she understands what Officers were talking about.....This is a good thing. except for the part instead of being the first to leave she will be the last and will have to finish this deployment alone. But she is training alot of new people which in itself can be frustrating BUT it will keep her busy. LOL Have alot to tell but not sure how much can go public. Need to contact my kids and dad first, i'll try to slip bits in here and there. But looks like she came out on top again!

Throw the whole weight of your anxieties upon Him, for you are His personal concern. (1 Peter 5:7 PHILLIPS)

God is able.  He can do what you can't, and He already has a plan (John 6:6)

Don't be afraid; just believe (Mark 5:35-36 NIV)

Believe.  Believe that His heart of Compassion is bigger than your trials. that His heart of Love extends beyond your line of sight. that He is Greater than what lies ahead.  Believe that Jesus is able to help and that he comes to all.  He speaks to all.....just BELIEVE.

I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:20 NKJV)
