Today just wasn't a very good day. Nothing serious . . . Just a lot of little "disappointments" I guess. Overall, Nick was very sleepy, more confused and had a lot of pain issues. Its hard to see him this way, but I have to keep reminding myself just how far he's come. We all have bad days, and I guess that's what it's been for Nick today. We'll pray for a better day tomorrow.

Gratitude is twofold - love coming to visit us and love running out to greet a welcome guest.

God Said No
I asked God to take away my pride,
And God said, "No."
He said it was not for Him to take away,
But for me to give up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole,
And God said, "No."
He said her spirit is whole.
Her body is only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience,
And God said, "No."
He said patience is a by-product of tribulation.
It isn't granted, it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness,
And God said, "No."
He said He gives blessings,
Happiness is up to me.

I asked God to spare me pain,
And God said, "No."
He said, "Suffering draws you apart from
Worldly cares and brings you closer to Me."

I asked God to make my spirit grow,
And God said, "No."
He said I must grow on my own,
But he will prune me to make it fruitful.

I asked God if He loved me,
And God said, "Yes."
He gave me His only son, who died for me.
And I will be in Heaven someday
Because... I believe.

I asked God to help me love others
As much as He loves me,
And God said,
"Ah finally, you have the idea."

Today was a good day for Nick because he passed his water swallow test! The therapist who did his test even gave him a styrofoam cup full of ice water that he could drink on his wheelchair ride back to his room. He was one happy soldier! Today's temperature was 85 degrees today so we waited until this evening to go outside. He got to see the beautiful cherry blossom trees that line the front entrance of the hospital (at least I think that's what they are - tiny white clusters of flowers). When his physical therapists came in today, they put nick on his stomach and he was able to do three push ups. It wasn't easy for him, but he did it. We all cheered!

• I am never alone, as long as I have God in my life. "For He Himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you." Hebrews 13:5

Nick is doing pretty good in the Ward. He is not connected to anything, which is awesome. Breathing is going well. He is eating real food. He is talking. He had a visit from a VIP this weekend.......his 7-month old niece. They were cracking each other up - him in his wheelchair and her in her stroller. His spirits are good. He is dealing with some pain in his backside when he sets. There is some work on meds and cushioning being done to help this problem. Mother is smoked, but still doing a great job of caregiver. She is looking forward to being home next week while I do the caregiver duties. We praising God for his love and mercy in granting our prayers. We are thankful for all the prayers that have been raised for Nick and our intentions. God is good! (Steve)
