This just in....

Another good day for Nick. He was out of his room for an hour and a half, and 50 minutes of that was spent out front in the warm 70 degree weather. He thoroughly enjoyed it. He's continuing to do well coming off of the vent, getting closer and closer to going on trache collar which means the swallow test will hopefully soon follow. He received a package in the mail yesterday from Nashville; it contained a Taylor Swift t-shirt, her new CD, and an autographed picture of her that says, "I (heart) Nick, signed Taylor. (He thought it was pretty cool!)

Another good day for Nick. He took a very long wheelchair ride today. . . maybe to celebrate the leap year. We went up on 4th floor and checked it out briefly. Hopefully, the 4th floor will be in our near future (as long as the vent weaning continues to go well). Because vent weaning = swallow test, speaker valve, out of ICU, and eventually removal of feeding tube which he vows he is going to cut up into 3,000 pieces when they can finally take it out of his nose!).
