Another good day for Nick. Continuing to slowly wean off of the vent, and today was definitely a step in the right direction for that. A rather long wheelchair ride today which he seemed to enjoy. The therapist now let's him drive in speed 3 (instead of speed 1) which he likes. It just makes it more difficult on the poor respiratory therapist who has to keep up with him with the portable vent. When he was on his wheelchair ride, I showed him where the freezer is located where I keep his Popsicle stash . . . I hope that wasn't a mistake!

Loving it and seeing God's Praises.  I use to beg for news on Nick, call around, check e-mails, go on FB holding my breath and scared to death.  Now I run to the info with excitment and ask what did he do today?!  Once again God has answered my prayers, confirmed my bliefs and strengthed my Faith.  here I am Father, where do you want me now?

Well, I'm back in Bethesda and Steve is back home for the week. I think his first phone call came within 30 minutes after he left Walter Reed (how's Nick doing, what's Nick doing, etc.). I had to laugh because now I know how he feels when I go home! The saying "wanting to be in two places at the same time" definitely holds true for us. Nick had a good day today, and I could see definite improvement after being gone for a week. He continues to work hard on getting off the vent, and his breathing seems to get a little stronger each day. For the first time in a long time, I actually heard one of the respiratory therapists say, "His lungs sound clear today". Once again . . . more answered prayers.

more good news!

Good progress on the breathing strength the last few days for Nick. God willing, this looks to be a week of substantial progress coming up. (Steve)

• Yesterday was a good day. Nick went for a wheelchair ride. It was a two-lap affair. I think he wanted to show off his ashes. He probably would have went further but we where getting tired of chasing him with the vent. Praying for more progress today. (Steve)
