Father guide Nick's doctors. Amen
Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smaller right and doing it all for love.
St. Thérèse of Lisieux
A good day for Nick. The special bed was not so special. Back to the original bed for now. Going to try another special bed tomorrow. It was a restful day. Nick's brain recovery is making progress. Today, for the first time, he remembered where he was. It has been one of the first questions that we ask him every morning - "Do you know where you are?". He usually says, "Nope". But not today. Today he nailed it. High fives everywhere. (I'm now going to have to answer his questions a bit more accurately since he is remembering my answers the next day.) Sheila went home today so I assume Popsicle duty - a duty not to be taken lightly. "Pray, hope and don't worry." (Steve)
They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep. For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof. They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end. Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Psalms, 107:23-30
Psalm 23 Like You've Never Read Before
This is really great. Psalm 23 is one of the most famous passages in the Bible for good reason, but this really shows just how meaningful and powerful it is. Here it is, broken down:
The Lord is my Shepherd
- That's Relationship!
I shall not want
- That's Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
- That's Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
- That's Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul
- That's Healing!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness.
- That's Guidance!
For His name sake
- That's Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
- That's Testing!
I will fear no evil.
- That's Protection!
For Thou art with me
- That's Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me,
- That's Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
- That's Hope!
Thou anointest my head with oil,
- That's Consecration!
My cup runneth over.
- That's Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
- That's Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.
- That's Security!
Forever!
- That's Eternity!

yes, what a shock about the recruit......that's 2 this year! not related but still a shock for GL. keeping them all in my prayers.
no word from Cora I see, will continue those prayers also.
thanks for keeping up with Nick, life is in the fast lane here again....we sold 400 pork chop dinners, we also had burgers and hot dogs for the kids (in 3 hours), 50/50 drawing and bake sale @ $6000.00, this form a comuunity that already have made blankets and turned over all the vacation time we could collect for his dad to have time off work. done 2 blood drives, ect....I'm always amazed what people will give.
Thanks for letting us know Jim. We've been and will continue to keep Elizabeths family in our prayers. I cannot imagine what they are experiencing. We're also praying for the staff and leadership in Great Lakes. This must be a very difficult time for them as well. Here's the latest update on Nick.
Today started off with a wheelchair ride for Nick around the ICU, and he surprised us with his maneuverability skills again. The rest of his day was somewhat restful. Within the next day or so, they will begin to wean Nick off of the vent again. Last weekend was a rough one for him, and it set his breathing back a couple of notches, but we know he will not give up and he will continue to trudge forward with all of the strength and determination he has.
@Blondie, let us know how the dinner went last weekend. I think it was a wonderful thing for you to do.
@ Cora, we're keeping you in our prayers as well.Hope that you are recovering quickly and completely.
Post from Nick's sister, Olivia....Nicks CT scan went ok today nothing looked worse, however they said by the looks of it the breathing might take longer then expected to get back up going on his own. He still has a problem remembering names but once you show him a picture of the person ( usually on the I pad) he remembers them right away, He professed his love of popsicles to me today and said he will never ever get tired of them!
From Olivia Hoffman (Nicks sister)
Despite a rough weekend, Nick was in pretty good spirits today. Mom told him this morning he had a surprise visitor (me). When I walked in, he responded with " dangit I was hoping it was taylor swift." Once a sarcastic big brother always a sarcastic big brother. Not too much progress today, I was hoping I would get to hear him speak this trip, but it might not be in the cards.
