Today was a good day for Nick. We got to hear more of his voice as he had his speaking valve in for over an hour (far longer than we expected him to be able to keep it in). We're excited that Steve (Dad) is coming back to Bethesda tomorrow along with my parents. Nick did confirm, however, that Mom is definitely better at keeping his forehead wiped off and is a lot more generous with the Popsicles than Dad is. Just saying.

When you feel like you are alone, God is there.
When you can’t see the sun through the rain, God is there.
When it seems like all hope is gone, God is there.
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5

Nick has been doing well off of the vent. By the end of today, he will have gone 14 hours breathing on his own before they put him back on the vent so he can rest better at night. He did just a little bit of speaking with his speaking valve today, because when the valve is on his trache, it makes his breathing more difficult. He continues to "trudge on" this journey with a barrage of emotions (happiness, fear, frustration, anxiety, anger, sadness) but we continue to remind him that this is the hardest battle of his life, and when he gets through this, he'll know he can do anything

I know I will be victorious today.
I know my future will be better than my past.

that is GREAT news!  on both accounts.

Praise be to God! Prayer takes little time, but brings us closer to God and look at all the good we do for others!

Heath saw the Doc this week. His LimDu date was extended for six more months. He's making great strides..and is even up to 142# (Woo Hoo!), but he's not back to 100%. We're just praising God for all of the improvements he's made. He's even working on his upper body strength every day now. Thanks for your continued prayers.

Yay God!

Luckily, Nicks schedule was much quieter today. He was off the vent for 10 hours and for a brief while they put in a speaking valve. This enabled us to hear his voice for about 25 minutes which was great. Before Steve went home on Monday, he was "coaching" Nick, and told him his first words should be, "Dad is awesome". Sorry, Steve, but once again Nick didn't listen to his old dad.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.

Trapped
Do you ever feel this way? Turn to Jesus.

I'm trapped, trapped inside myself, I want to get out, get out and be free. I don't want to live in my shell, But I'm scared, scared to take away my mask.

Friends are forever letting me down, No matter how close they are. They are there if I have a problem, But when I don't I may as well not exist.

I want someone to trust and care about me, Someone to cry on and someone to listen. I want someone to love me for who I am, Not the masked me whom everyone knows.

Unfortunately none of this can ever come true, Not from someone on this earth anyway. No one I know is perfect, No one I know can fulfil this.

Except...

Someone I know who is watching down on everyone of us. He has a special plan and a purpose for anyone who turns to Him. There will still be hardship and sorrow, But these will make you strong.

He can be trusted, he is ever so faithful. He cares deeply about each person on this earth. He can be cried upon, and will cry with you. He even puts each tear we cry in a bottle. He is the best listener anyone could be, And most of all He loves us for who we are, No matter what we have done.

"Who could do all this?" I hear you ask. It's a very dear and special friend of mine called Jesus, With whom I can take away my mask and be free.
