God grant you the light in Christmas, which is faith;
The warmth of Christmas, which is love;
The radiance of Christmas, which is purity;
The righteousness of Christmas, which is justice;
The belief in Christmas, which is truth;
The all of Christmas, which is Christ.

:) Every happening, great or small, is a parable whereby God speaks to us, and the art of life is to get the message.

Post from Nick's mom, Sheila.....I arrived back in Bethesda today (after my mini vacation at home with the rest of my wonderful family) and was so happy that Nick definitely looked better than when I left. Just as I walked into his room, they were getting him in his wheelchair - what a wonderful sight, seeing him out of that bed! He was somewhat sleepy today (due to pain meds, no doubt) and is scheduled for the OR first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully the surgeries will get shorter and shorter and farther and farther apart. The highlight of my day was when Steve said one of his usual cornball jokes, and Nick just rolled his eyes. It was so great to see that "famous" sarcastic look on his face - that's my Nick!

Post from Nick's dad, Steve....Nick's surgery went good today. Some of the stitches (they look more like staples) were removed. He slept alot today due to the anesthesia. While he was in surgery I worked on opening some of the cards that are being sent. There are 1000's. It is amazing! Thank you so much for the kind words and prayers passed along to Nick and my family. Sheila and I work on opening and reading the ones that are to us (and some that are sent to Nick - Sorry Nick) every evening before bed. After reading the love that so many people are sending through these cards, it puts us in a comforting state of mind for bed. Once Nick gets out of the ICU he is going to have a lot of reading to do. {{ I did creep on one of his birthday cards that had singing cows in it. - It made me laugh }} May God bless you all. God, I humbly pray, bless all who are sick or wounded. (Steve).

Shower Thy grace upon us in the moment of our greatest need, protect us from ourselves, and allow us to be a beacon of light rather than a dark cloud for the ambience that surrounds us. Only with Thy aid can we create that peace within and harmony with the outer environment, both natural and social, for which our souls yearn.
