"From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another." - John 1:16
Sometimes we just need to count our blessings in life. We all have our share of problems, some more than others, but we're still very blessed. We're blessed to have a loving Savior who promises us eternal life. Let's focus on the blessings in our lives today. Have a wonderful, safe day =)
For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy.

• Post from Nick's mom, Sheila.....Well, as a lot of you already know, today was Nick's 24th birthday. Words cannot express our thanks to everyone who have prayed and continue to pray for Nick's healing of mind, body and soul. Even though he is still very serious, we breathe a little easier now and give thanks daily that he is on this earth and we are able to celebrate a birthday with him. The cards...
Blondie,
I work in a funeral home, so I am reminded on a daily basis the need to look for the beautiful and wonderful things in life.
Thanks so much for the update on Nick. When his priest talked about how he was reminded of Christ falling under the weight of the cross and then getting up and moving forward when he looked at Nick, it just touched my heart. I've been sharing all of the updates with friends and family on fb as well as with the 3,000 plus members of our church. We have so many praying for him and his family. Please assure his parents that they are all in our thoughts and prayers each and every day.
Thank you Blondie.
God bless,
Robin
Man, this prayer request room is getting and doing so much good the Lord has to be smiling at each and every one of you. I don't check in everyday but I always catch up. Have a joyful and blessed Christmas and may the power that has moved you in the past move you in the future.
Notice the Beautiful Things
I had a very special teacher in high school many years ago whose husband unexpectedly died suddenly of a heart attack. About a week after his death, she shared some of her insight with a classroom of students.
As the late afternoon sunlight came streaming in through the classroom windows and the class was nearly over, she moved a few things aside on the edge of her desk and sat down there.
With a gentle look of reflection on her face, she paused and said, "Before class is over, I would like to share with all of you a thought that is unrelated to class, but which I feel is very important.
Each of us is put here on earth to learn, share, love, appreciate and give of ourselves. None of us knows when this fantastic experience will end. It can be taken away at any moment. Perhaps this is God's way of telling us that we must make the most out of every single day."
Her eyes beginning to water, she went on, "So I would like you all to make me a promise. From now on, on your way to school, or on your way home, find something beautiful to notice. It doesn't have to be something you see - it could be a scent-perhaps of freshly baked bread wafting out of someone's house, or it could be the sound of the breeze slightly rustling the leaves in the trees, or the way the morning light catches one autumn leaf as it falls gently to the ground.
Please look for these things, and cherish them. For, although it may sound trite to some, these things are the "stuff" of life. The little things we are put here on earth to enjoy. The things we often take for granted. We must make it important to notice them, for at any time... it can all be taken away."
The class was completely quiet. We all picked up our books and filed out of the room silently. That afternoon, I noticed more things on my way home from school than I had that whole semester. Every once in a while, I think of that teacher and remember what an impression she made on all of us, and I try to appreciate all of those things that sometimes we all overlook.
Take notice of something special you see on your lunch hour today. Go barefoot. Or walk on the beach at sunset. Stop off on the way home tonight to get a double-dip ice cream cone. For as we get older, it is not the things we did that we often regret, but the things we didn't do.
Unknown (but powerful)
(Psa 98:4 NKJV) Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
Today is a good day to SHOUT!!
I know that when things are good it's easy to Shout. But when things are not so good and you're feeling depressed, sad, tired and worn out, we have to get up and SHOUT, making a joyful noise unto the Lord!!
We are asking you today to get up and start shouting regardless of where you're at in your situation. Don't let the weight of your situation or someone else's situation bring you down. Shout your way back up and stay there. Break forth in song and Rejoice!!
"God, our Father, If it is your will, walk through our houses and take away all our worries and illnesses and please watch over and heal our families. in Jesus name, Amen."

Happy Birthday Nick!
Post from Nick's family priest, Father Michael Geiger......“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds ” (Psalm 147)
Dear Sheila, Olivia and Nick (and Steve, Loretta, Charlie (Chuck), and Lizzie):
Psalm 137 seems to beautifully summarize my joy at spending time with Nick, Sheila and Olivia today at Walter Reed Medical Center. Although our time together was short, it was such an honor to be in the presence of 2nd Lieutenant Nick Vogt and to anoint him with the holy Sacrament of the sick. Along with Sheila and Olivia, we prayed with Nick, even though he was not conscious due to the fact that he had just come out of his daily surgical procedures to cleanse his wounds. When I gave Nick a closing blessing after the anointing, it even seemed that although he was heavily sedated – he was trying to make the sign of the cross! I expressed to Nick that Loretta mentioned to me he was flirting with the nurses, that Charlie was getting darn good at picking out cool Scripture passages, and that Lizzie mentioned to me that tomorrow was Nick’s birthday. I also conveyed to Nick that the entire parish communities of Sacred Heart, Bethlehem and St. Joseph, Crestline were sending their prayers and love, along with the entire Crestline and Shelby communities. I hung up on the wall in Nick’s room (where he can see it clearly) the rosary that I used and prayed with the night of Nick’s prayer vigil a few weeks ago. It now belongs to Nick – a holy object as well as a reminder of the powerful prayer coming his way – from our hearts and mouths to God’s ears! As Nick lay in his bed fast asleep, I couldn’t help but think how much he reminded me of our Savior when Christ fell down under the wood of the cross, only to get up again with faith and trust and keep on going. This is what 2nd Lieutenant Nicholas Vogt will also someday do! But now, faithful servant and hero, rest up and sleep well-lots of people are waiting for that day when they can hear your voice. Indeed, the Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
