"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

Love is a huge part of living a good Christian life, but sometimes we lose sight of what it really is. We should look at 1 Corinthians 13 to learn all about real love, and then work every day to show it.

"Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but he who trusts in the LORD, lovingkindness shall surround him." - Psalm 32:10

There are many wicked people in the world today - people who try to hold us down, try to tempt us, and try to take us further away from God. But with full trust in Him, like Psalm 32 says, lovingkindness shall surround us.

it's been crazy here, sorry, here is to catch you up. keep praying..it Works!

• Sat.
• Post from Nick's mom...... Nick is in a scheduled surgery right now. He had a rough day yesterday. The amount of pain medication he needs has increased and it is causing him to have some issues with his mental clarity. This is hard to witness but we trust the wisdom of his medical staff. We hope that some of the wounds can be closed today. As the wounds get closed the amount of medication being used for pain and to fight infection can start being reduced. (And Nick can get back to singing the words to the songs coming out of the ipod in his room.) Once again -- Steve & I thank you all for your prayers and kind thoughts.

Sun.
• .......Yesterdays surgery went well. They did not close any wounds yet but it looks like they will be able to close some on Monday. Today we go to church to pray with some Friars. Nick should be able to receive the Eucharist today too. (He is not eating yet so it will only be a tiny piece.) We are working through reading all of the thoughtful cards that have been sent to Nick, Steve and I. Their kind words are comforting. Please continue to pray for Nick's comfort as he is having a difficult time with the pain and pain medications. Thank you

• Post from Nick's mom......Quiet day for Nick today. He is resting up for another trip to surgery tomorrow morning. We met a soldier today that was with him in Kandahar. He mentioned how hard the medical staff worked there to keep him alive. We are so blessed to be with him now.

For those desiring to send cards/messages to the family of the Petty Officer who died on Nov 23 on the USS Essex

The following is the email response I rec'd from the Ombudsman...as you read, the family has asked for privacy and they had to ask permission to do this......

The FRG is taking a collection of messages/cards to create a "condolence/support flower tree" of sorts. Each card/message will be posted on a stick and arranged like a bouquet of flowers might look (we may have to adjust it to a wreath). They will be displayed at the viewing.
I think it would be easier if you collected the messages and emailed them to me since the influx of mail may very well cause a delay in receiving them. I'll hand write each message on a small card to put on the wreath. The family is desiring privacy and we needed permission just to do this for them.
Shannon :)

new from Nick's mom

via Sheila Vogt--♥ Thanks to everyone for your kind words of support and prayers. These updates are not only for you but they help Steve & I too. It is a nice way to get a "hug" from all of Nick and our friends. Nick was in a long surgery again today. More work on his wounds. The General Surgeon gave us a very good report after the surgery was done. He was smiling a lot during this report. When he was done several of the other doctors that were in the OR room working on Nick (there is still a pretty big team working on him) stopped by Nick's ICU room to tell us about how good things went today in OR. The next big surgery day is planned for Saturday. {{ We got notice from L,C & E that they have the Christmas decorations up at home. ----- AWESOME! Can't wait to see them.

City Hall Tree, red, white and blue bulbs with yellow ribbons.
