"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." - Mark 11:24

Remember, you can always turn to our loving God with your burdens and petitions. He will hear them and He will answer them. Sometimes He doesn't answer how we want Him to, but always keep the faith in His will and plan.

Praying he lets us all hear from our sailors this Christmas Season. that they are all kept safe and healthy. And that we all grow closer to him, through Advent and Christmas. Thank you Father, We BELIRVE.

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." - Isaiah 40:29

When we are at our weakest, that's when God makes us the strongest. We can always turn to Him, day or night, when times are good and bad. He cares for you as if you were His only child. Thank you, Lord!

as far as I know he is at Walter Reed.  that was the last I heard anyway..... just in:

via Sheila Vogt - "Here's a quick Nick update: Yesterday's surgery went OK (Not great / Not bad). He had a lot of pain from it which was eventually numbed by a higher amount of medication. His General Surgeon says that there is a "natural" path of recovery for Nick's type of injuries. He says that there is a "honeymoon" period, then a downturn, then a sustained improvement. Nick is now in the "downturn" period. (This period is normally about a week of so.) The doctor is happy with Nick's condition at this time. He says, "he is ahead of the curve". He said Nick is a complicated case but that he is impressed with Nick's strength. When we walked into Nick's room this morning, after a rough evening with him, he met us with a big smile. Some friends gave us an Ipod and small speakers to use in his room. He loves it. He was mouthing the words to several of the songs. Tomorrow will be another tough day of surgery for him. Please keep him in your prayers. God bless you all."

I cry everytime I get an update.  what a wondrful God we have. and what Faith this family has.  God love them.

Blondie,

Thanks so much for the update! We've passed the information on. I am assuming by his moms comments about his receiving care from the Navy that they have made it to Bethesda?

What can we do to help/encourage them? Please let us know.

Thanks,

Robin

I wish i could get a picture of his home town, Yellow Ribbons Everywhere!  started with Church youth putting them around his grandparents homes, (they live on either side of the church) then his family put them in all their yards, then the church family.....the town was out of yellow ribbons, couldn't buy them, they gave them away!  So we went to nearest BIG town adn bougt hundreds of $ of yellow ribbon and took to hand out throghout his town, quess what is going on my Christmas tree this year, and not just for Nick, but all those we prayed for this year and all those yet to come.  My heart is crying out to our Lord and Savior.

yes, sorry, I've been crasy busy both at work and at home.  here's the last few days.

from Nicks mom.....Steve and I went to Thanksgiving Mass today in the hospital chapel. Our prayers of thanks this year have taken on a much more powerful sincereness. God has blessed us with a most ultimate gift - some more time with Nick. Nick is doing good today overall. There was an issue with blood chemistry this morning that had people working hard but it was brought under control. Nick ...

from Nick's sister, Olivia......Another day full of Long surgeries for Nick today, today is mostly work on the legs and arm. Mom and dad said they might work their way down to the prostetic's wing of the hospital to talk to some doctors and maybe see what Nick's options might be. Although nick can still not talk, he is mouthing words and has a Chart of letters he can point to to try and spell words. Still in ICU so visitors are very limited due to his high risk of getting an infection.

Update from Nick's mom.......Yesterday Nick had a long stay in the operating room. They did further work on his wounds and started some treatments to battle some infection. The doctors say that the treatments, although his case is complicated, will take care of the infection problem. Steve and I are so impressed with the love, concern and dedication that the military family shows while taking care. Of these wounded warriers. The respect that they have shown during this time is wonderful, we feel like we are part of their family too. The Army got Nick off the battlefield, the Air force flew him home. And a Large part of the medical staff is Navy. God Bless our Military.

Nick's sisters today........Just to put in perspective how close we were to losing Nick and how serious he still is...
No war patient has received more blood then Nicholas Vogt...EVER. Before he was even sent from Afghanistan he received over 400 units of blood ( the average body has 15,) although not needing blood ever day he is approaching 500 units now. For everyone who doesn't give blood because they think it just sits in a warehouse and goes bad, that may be true every once and a while but in many cases you could be saving a life like Nick's.

• I'm happy to say that Nick had a "restful" day yesterday. For the first time in probably a week, he was able to really get some good, sound sleep. We were happy about that because he has a big day in the OR today. He was "chomping at the bit" to get in there and just kept looking at the surgeon teams coming in his room and mouthing the words, "Let's do it". Even as injured as he is, he still seems to be the Nick we all know and love. The chief surgeon said they love to have patients like him. In summary, please pray abundantly for Nick today. They epect him to be in for roughly 8 or more hours or as long as his body can take it. Again, words cannot express our appreciation for all the prayers, love and support that our whole family have receive during this difficult time…..it means so much. I hope some day we can explain to nick the amazing outpour of love by family, friends and even those we don’t know.

Praying all cards, letters and boxes get to our troops intact, undamaged, non-stolen, filled with love!
