Portsmouth Shipyard
As I understand it, once my son returns from leave (Aug. 8) the Truman will go underway for 10 days to offload certain supplies, etc. to other ships. Then it will head to Portsmouth for repairs. My son had been living on the Truman since he reported there last summer. He has just obtained onshore living quarters at Miller Hall on base. Now he is faced with the question of how does he get to Portsmouth each day. Does anyone know if there are shuttle buses available for him to ride?…

Hello Valentin my daughter s currently aboard the Truman. What is your sailor’s rating?
Greetings, My name is Valentin, my son is a crew member aboard the USS Harry Truman. I look forward to getting to know all you Navy Dads and support our sailors.
Looks like they are finally out of the Portsmouth Shipyard and underway once again, with ultimate return to Naval Station Norfolk. I know my son will be glad!
Wondering if the Truman will go to Portsmouth shipyard for repairs once its initial arrival at Norfolk is completed?

You all can talk about whatever in private messages- that's what that system is for. We just do not want to violate our stated OPSEC guidelines by posting exact dates for port calls.
And as a reminder, your sailor cannot post those dates in emails either...get updates from the Ombudsman
Well, the Admiral in charge of the CSG stated publicly in an online interview that it would be sometime in July. What I am interested in is how soon we WILL know when the ship will return so that we can make plans to be there. Travel time, hotel reservations, getting permission to be at the pier, all those things and more, will take some time to arrange. So, those with prior experience in this, what can we expect?
And you should know you DO NOT violate OPSEC on this site.
