Looks like they are finally out of the Portsmouth Shipyard and underway once again, with ultimate return to Naval Station Norfolk.  I know my son will be glad!

More than 6,000 Sailors from Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 8 returned to Norfolk, Virginia, from their 8-month deployment, July 13, 2016. While deployed, the strike group served in the 5th and 6th U.S. Fleet areas of responsibility conducting maritime security operations, theater security cooperation efforts and missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve over Iraq and Syria.

Wondering if the Truman will go to Portsmouth shipyard for repairs once its initial arrival at Norfolk is completed?

You all can talk about whatever in private messages- that's what that system is for.  We just do not want to violate our stated OPSEC guidelines by posting exact dates for port calls.

And as a reminder, your sailor cannot post those dates in emails either...get updates from the Ombudsman

Well, the Admiral in charge of the CSG stated publicly in an online interview that it would be sometime in July.  What I am interested in is how soon we WILL know when the ship will return so that we can make plans to be there.  Travel time, hotel reservations, getting permission to be at the pier, all those things and more, will take some time to arrange.  So, those with prior experience in this, what can we expect?

And you should know you DO NOT violate OPSEC on this site.
