AIRSPACE VIOLATION PROTOCOL

10903259855?profile=originalAIRSPACE VIOLATION PROTOCOL
According to a Marine Pilot:

In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.

This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type aircraft, and points of origin and destination.

I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai . It's too good not to pass along. The conversation went something like this...

Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'

Air Defense Radar: (no response ... total silence)

My brother in law sent this to me. I had to share.

Christmas 2008

Well, it took an extra 12 hours but we finally got Geoffrey home. The ordeal was/is a story in itself but I will let that pass for now.We had 10 days with Geoffrey, 10 very short days. We got him to both grand parents’ houses and to his great grandma’s house. He has grown so much. He is no longer a child but a very fine young man...It was hard to buy Christmas gifts for him... what do you get someone who has no room to store stuff. It was limited to parts for his computer and a new camera (so he can send pictures back to mom and dad).Tomorrow at this time he will be boarding a plane to go back to school. I must admit a little more of my heart will be boarding that plane with him. I want him to keep coming home when he can but, at the same time I wonder how many arrivals and departures my heart can take...I know others feel the same way. So, I say this: Gods blessings on each and every one of you and your sons and daughters and Godspeed.

Time is standing still!

So here I sit, waiting for time to go by so we can get in the car, drive 10 min., park, go inside the airport, and wait, and wait, and wait. Usually the Navy's hurry, hurry, hurry, to wait. Not today. Why does time do this?Morgan sent me a text at 10:30 this morning, his time. He said it was nice to be wearing regular clothes at that time of day. Funny, I never thought of that. Since they had their Phase III taken away, they've pretty much been in uniform. How can someone make fake Phase III passes, get caught, then have the charges dismissed? This one person affected the whole corpsman side of base.As my friend, Angie, from N4M's said; this chapter is closed. Whew. It was a long one! It'll be nice to recharge my batteries and get ready for the next chapter. I have a feeling it's going to be tougher than the last one....oh yeah, I was talking about Morgan...sorry.Just received another text from Morgan, they haven't boarded the plane in Seattle yet. Bummer. Just got another one...he's on plane! Now time will go slower than ever.By the way, if you have ESPN, don't forget to watch the Poinsetta Bowl on Dec. 23rd! Go Broncos!!!!
