Just got off a call with my son...lasted less then 3 minutes unfortunately. He seems to be doing well, but sounded tired. He goes directly to sub school after basic, then to A school after that. He was happy to find several others in his ship that are going to be on subs as well.
He did not know yet if he was shipping out Saturday following graduation or Sunday. Anyone know what they typically do? I want to spend as much quality time with ism as possible, however, I also need to know how many days to book the hotel for.
I really really look forward to him being in a position that it is easier to communicate...Then again, depending on what type of sub he ends up on, we may not hear from him for 3-6 months at a time.

Our son called this morning also, called for 20 minutes. Said hell week is over for them monday. Sounded really good! The sailors typically fly out the next day if they are going to A schools outside of GL. We will fly out early Saturday morning, only able to spend a few hours Friday with him.
David, good to hear your Son is doing well...subs, cool! Opportunities to communicate do get better after basic but not all that much better. A-School is very demanding ESPECIALLY "nukes", language school, etc. but you can at least schedule time to talk or even visit. Wishing you and your Son the very best..!
Johnny,
He is Ship 13 Div 320.
yours?
Thanks for the info Richard. I think just having his mother know that she COULD call him in the evening will make her happy.
