So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Ahhh that friendly rivalry :-)

Larry and FC1 - thanks for your input. I do remember a few years ago at least one FC went to GITMO before C school and that job certainly didn't have anything to do with his rate!

Can Quad Zero billets also be on a ship? Larry, your post about they can work on any system - are you saying they could go to a ship and work on the FC equipment without C school?

So glad that orders are coming in for them, when you say 113 sets are those just FC orders or ET as well?

Thanks for the info...Chris won't have to worry about that for several months ;)...although I know he's listening to all the "scuttlebutt" and starting to lean towards specifics.
He was joking about some of the snobby ETs...I told him it was real easy to settle that debate...tell 'em that the Navy trusts it's weapons systems to the FCs...everything else the ETs can deal with ;)

Quad Zero billets can be filled by any FC reguardless of the 'C' School they have attended. These billets usually have nothing to do with the FC rate. My first shore duty in a detention facility as a staff member and was a Quad Zero billet. We got another 113 sets of orders yesterday. A good variety too. Should be alot of happy sailors out there this morning.

The difference is "Hot Picks" are billets that need to be filled quickly and Quad Zero is an FC with the NEC Code 0000 which means that they have not attended any FC "C" School but can work on any system

FC1 Officer,
Can you tell me the difference between "Hot Picks" and quad zero orders? Thanks.

FC1 - thanks for that, I know some nervous FC families but I found myself remembering back a few years ago that this rumor existed back when our FC was in A school too and there were NO holds back in his day.

Mary- FC's are all going to 'C' schools at the moment. It is part of the overall training we receive and is not likely to change. The FC orders are moving along nicely, we have seen around 400 sets of orders in the last 3 weeks and just had another batch Monday. The FC's are moving along nicely now. With the ET population down to a manageable number we are going to start alternating ETs and FCs on our Mid Day shift and it should be shut down by the end of the summer. we'll see how the summer surge from bootcamp looks this year.

Jim, James was on the Drill Team in GL. It also took him two tryouts to make it but he made it and said it was worth it. I was like you and wanted him to make it because he wanted it but then learned later the it was a great break for him from school. James also found out right after the tryout when he didn't make it and also when he did. They told him when he didn't what he needed to work on and encouraged him to try again.

Paul, our son did Honor Guard team in Dahlgren which really exposed him to some neat things and events. He also received a letter of appreciation or two and a few coins including one from the Admiral.

Anytime a sailor is willing to step up and give more of their time and effort, it is a good thing. Hope your son will enjoy the team.

Paul, our son is Aegis Spy Radar - he too had hoped for ACNT but no orders were available the day he went for orders.
