So, I haven't heard from FC1 Officer in some time. I deleted all the info here because it is probably wildly out of date. When I can get more current information I will post it here again. I'll see if my son can get me some new information.

Comment by FC1 (SW) Sean M. Officer on April 16, 2010 at 2:58pm: I for one am an AEGIS tech. There are several different areas to the AEGIS weapon system and what area a student gets will determine what ship they got to.

CG47 and up and DDG51-85
AEGIS Computer
AEGIS Display
SPY-1A/B Radar system
MK 99 GMFCS/ORTS

DDG-86 and up
ACNT (Aegis Computer Network Technician)
SPY-1D Radar System
MK 99 GMFCS/400HZ

GMFCS stands for Guided Missile Fire Control System.

All the schools are in Dahlgren, VA, which is just south of the Maryland State line, and range from 4-6 months long. If your student is going there for school I reccomend taking a car as the nearest towns are around a 45 minute drive.

Like James he told us alot of them after they find out what FC truely is they are very proud they got it. He did not understand what they did before boot camp but when he got out and got to talk to some other FC's he told us he could not have picked a better rate.

Comment by BR549 on April 14, 2010 at 8:47am: no, that is not too bad at all, Congrats to him is he going to Dam Neck or Dalhgren both are very good spots, I grew up in the Hampton Roads area. My son also wanted ET and he got FC I pray he loves it as much as your son.

Comment by Larry Gaither on April 14, 2010 at 8:31am: James with orders in hand leaves Great Lake Thursday for home. We will have him for 2 weeks then on to C-School in VA. Can't wait!!!!!! 6 Months there then we wait and see. He got the system he wanted so it has all been well worth it. He is Sooo Happy the navy chose FC for him as opposed to ET he thought he wanted. 13 Months for day 1 in Boot Camp to leaving for C-School. Not Too Bad.
