I've done a version of the candle burning forever it seems....I learned it from my dad and he had done so since he learned from his stepfather.....
We have a candle that is burned only once a year...the oldest male of the house lights it on Christmas eve and says a prayer...to all those in the house and all those that are keeping the house safe and free (our sailors and soldiers and airmen...). It burns over the night and welcomes in Christmas. Only the one who lit the candle the night before can extinguish it in the morning as he offers a prayer of thanks. While my candle is green in honor of the color of the Christmas tree.......we've been using this candle for almost 20 years and this may be the last years this particular candle makes it...I'll have to look for another when I get a chance. Over the last 6-7 years I tend to work on Christmas day so those in my lab that have families can spend the day with their loved ones.....both my sailors are currently at sea and this year's prayers will be special as a result. So Holiday Greetings from Green Valley, Arizona as I welcome in His day as my family has for the past (I'm guessing here...) 70 or 80 years........

Hey thanks for sending me a message! Clay's mom told me about the Navymoms site and I never thought to check to see if there is the same for dads! LOL...anyway, I am going to fly up to Great Lakes to see Clay Christmas day and back home late Christmas day! He is pretty home sick and I am missing him as well. He has been living with me for awhile and we have gotten pretty close in the past few months...happpy holidays to you and your family...Tom

Dad Watson thanks for joining. I found navyformoms in searching for answers to my son's future. I just knew their had to be a site for dads like n4m's but I was wrong. So I started this site so us dads would also have a place to call home. I'm new at this and I hope this site will benefit fathers that come behind us. So jump right in share concerns, join groups, share info, and show off your sailor. I'm so glad to find out their are so many proud navy dads just like myself. Thank your Son for his service for me. Good luck and thanks again for joining. Sincerely, EG
