I got photos.

My son hasn't written or spoke to me in almost a year; even though I constantly write him every week. Last night I received an email; he had posted pictures on his myspace account. It didn't say much, but it is a breakthru to me. I have been ecstatic all day. I'm just so proud of my son and even though in our past we made mistakes with each other. It's in the past. I'm still proud and I still love my boy. (young man)Greg.

It's A Girl!

Yesterday at 9:07am my granddaughter met the world outside. Her name is Madison Renee, coming in at exactly 8 lbs. and 18 1/2 in. long. Mom and baby are doing very good :). Madison has a head of hair and not sure yet who she resembles, although Mom, Emily, says she has her nose hehehe. Dad, Wes, is all excited, but unfortunately wasn't able to stick around for the birth due to having to return to base by today. I don't know when I will get any pictures. . . hoping by tomorrow sometime!

AIRSPACE VIOLATION PROTOCOL

10903259855?profile=originalAIRSPACE VIOLATION PROTOCOL
According to a Marine Pilot:

In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute 'heads up' if they will be transiting Iranian airspace.

This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type aircraft, and points of origin and destination.

I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai . It's too good not to pass along. The conversation went something like this...

Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'

Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'

Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'

Air Defense Radar: (no response ... total silence)

My brother in law sent this to me. I had to share.

Christmas 2008

Well, it took an extra 12 hours but we finally got Geoffrey home. The ordeal was/is a story in itself but I will let that pass for now.We had 10 days with Geoffrey, 10 very short days. We got him to both grand parents’ houses and to his great grandma’s house. He has grown so much. He is no longer a child but a very fine young man...It was hard to buy Christmas gifts for him... what do you get someone who has no room to store stuff. It was limited to parts for his computer and a new camera (so he can send pictures back to mom and dad).Tomorrow at this time he will be boarding a plane to go back to school. I must admit a little more of my heart will be boarding that plane with him. I want him to keep coming home when he can but, at the same time I wonder how many arrivals and departures my heart can take...I know others feel the same way. So, I say this: Gods blessings on each and every one of you and your sons and daughters and Godspeed.

Time is standing still!

So here I sit, waiting for time to go by so we can get in the car, drive 10 min., park, go inside the airport, and wait, and wait, and wait. Usually the Navy's hurry, hurry, hurry, to wait. Not today. Why does time do this?Morgan sent me a text at 10:30 this morning, his time. He said it was nice to be wearing regular clothes at that time of day. Funny, I never thought of that. Since they had their Phase III taken away, they've pretty much been in uniform. How can someone make fake Phase III passes, get caught, then have the charges dismissed? This one person affected the whole corpsman side of base.As my friend, Angie, from N4M's said; this chapter is closed. Whew. It was a long one! It'll be nice to recharge my batteries and get ready for the next chapter. I have a feeling it's going to be tougher than the last one....oh yeah, I was talking about Morgan...sorry.Just received another text from Morgan, they haven't boarded the plane in Seattle yet. Bummer. Just got another one...he's on plane! Now time will go slower than ever.By the way, if you have ESPN, don't forget to watch the Poinsetta Bowl on Dec. 23rd! Go Broncos!!!!

> A special thanks to James from San Diego, Cal.. James was kind enough to take time out and film the USS Ronald Reagan coming home. Not only film it but edit, song, etc. We have some unbelievable Americans supporting our children. I cannot thank them enough. Thank you James for supporting our children. I will cherish this video forever since I was unable to see it live.

My first blog ever

November 19Phillip,Mom is still waiting for you to return the phone call you started after you landed at the airport. She said you mentioned some senseless gibberish and then "you forgot to put a coversheet on the TPS Reports" (whatever that means), then you said you need to call her back. You sounded very happy and excited. I sense something happened after that...like your freedom ended after that call. That was almost 2 hours ago. Knowing the NAVY doesn't like its recruits to stay up past 10 p.m., I assume you won't be returning your call tonight...or tomorrow...or the day after. In fact, I suspect it will be weeks before you call back. And no telling when you'll get to surf the net and stumble across this. It's been a very long 24 hours since you left with the recruiter, thank you for all those text messages you sent us....they were priceless. We have not stopped thinking of you since you left, wondering exactly what you are doing each and every minute. I know you will be fine, I just miss you. We all do. Even Dante' hasn't made those noises that you hate. But the next time we see you, you will be a real sailor. You have to earn that uniform...that's what Basic Training is for. Never give up. We are so very proud of you.Love,Your dad.P.S..... You just called at 10:30 and spoke to your mom for about 30 seconds. She heard yelling in the background. We're going to sleep like crap tonight.
